Kirsten Haalboom Named Director of Philanthropy for The Village at Rockville

(Rockville, Md.) – National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) named Kirsten Haalboom as the Director of Philanthropy, focusing specifically on The Village at Rockville (TVAR), A National Lutheran Community, in Rockville, Md. In this position Haalboom will have oversight for philanthropic activities related to annual giving, capital campaigns, and deferred gifts through wills, trusts or other financial instruments at TVAR. Another aspect of this position will be working with the congregations of the Metropolitan Washington, D.C. and Delaware-Maryland Synods in enhancing their ministry with seniors.

Haalboom most recently served as counsel to Maryland health care providers, specializing in insurance negotiation and litigation. In addition, she was an adult programs coordinator with AmeriCorps, providing educational programs for adult refugees.

Haalboom graduated from Valparaiso University School of Law, in Valparaiso, Indiana in 2009. She also earned a B.A. in 2005 from Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, Minnesota, in Sociology, Criminal Justice, and Scandinavian Studies, with a minor in Peace Studies. She is currently an active member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Derwood, Maryland.
