(STAUNTON, Va.) –National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) acquired Bentley Commons, a 108- Independent Living apartment community, in Staunton, Va., on August 22, 2011 for approximately $14,233,780.
Going forward Bentley Commons will operate under the name The Legacy at North Augusta—A National Lutheran Community. The new name not only reflects this strategic sponsorship, but also reflects the commitment to enhance services available to seniors throughout the region.
NLCS is currently preparing an application for submission to the state to obtain licensure for Assisted Living Services, so that The Legacy at North Augusta may provide those services to its residents. Once approved, these services would be made available to residents in the comfort of their own apartment.
“The Assisted Living Services conversion and licensing process should be completed by early 2012,” NLCS CEO Larry Bradshaw said. “The beauty of integrating Assisted Living Services that harness state-of-the-art technology is that it allows seniors to stay as independent as possible, while still preserving dignity and choice.”
Projected capital expenditures for the building, equipment and the requirements necessary to implement Assisted Living Services are expected to be approximately $1.6 million.
“We are committed to serving seniors in the Staunton-area with the highest level of choice and care possible,” The Legacy at North Augusta’s Executive Director Cherie Sims said. “Being able to offer Assisted Living Services will enable our residents to live life to the fullest and provide peace of mind for friends and loved ones.”
