National Lutheran Communities & Services took the lead article in Senior Housing News on Thursday, July 26, 2012 for its innovative approach to assisted living services in an independent living model.
That model was unveiled in June at The Legacy at North Augusta, A National Lutheran Community in Staunton, Va., with a provisional license to provide assisted living services. In most assisted living communities or continuing care retirement communities, seniors are required to physically move throughout the continuum of care.
The model The Legacy at North Augusta is deploying allows seniors to stay together (such as couples), instead of being separated because one requires more care than the other. Assisted living services are delivered in the comfort and privacy of the resident’s apartment.
