In a recent study, published by SmartAsset.com, the 575 largest U.S. cities were reviewed and ranked based on criteria specifically important to senior living. Rankings were assessed based on the average tax rate, the number of local retirement communities, the senior citizen population percentage and the number of local doctors’ offices. The study ranked Rockville, Md., number six on the list of best cities to retire in.
Other factors used to determine Rockville’s place on this list were its walk score of 53—a ranking that incorporates walking routes, pedestrian friendliness and neighborhood and population characteristics—and the number of golf courses nearby. The Village at Rockville—A National Lutheran Community has always believed Rockville is a vibrant city to enjoy retirement, with access to great health care and cultural amenities.
