This April, millions of people around the world will recognize April as Parkinson’s Awareness Month. Parkinson’s disease is a progressive neurological disorder that affects nearly one million people in the United States. Although promising research is being conducted, there is currently no cure for or definitive cause of Parkinson’s disease.
The Village at Orchard Ridge is pairing up with the Greater Winchester Area Parkinson’s Support Group to make their contribution on a local level. On Sunday, April 27 at 1:30 p.m., the community will host Walk the Walk—an event open to residents and the greater community. Following an opening ceremony, participants will complete a quarter-mile, half-mile, or two-mile walk. Refreshments will be provided. For more information, call 540-723-4047 or 540-662-4632.
