Cyndi Walters, president and CEO of National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) has announced Craig Wagoner’s promotion to vice president of operations for NLCS. Having joined The Village at Rockville—A National Lutheran Community in December 2022, Wagoner quickly provided inspirational leadership to the team and improved transparency in communication with the independent living residents.
In his new role, Wagoner will provide strong leadership and direction to NLCS entities’ operational teams, ensuring daily business practices are meeting operational goals while maximizing efficiency. He will be working closely with NLCS leadership and its entities’ leadership teams to enhance existing services, develop new services and manage financial performance.
Wagoner comes to the vice president of operations position with an extensive background in both aging services executive leadership and in health- and service-related system management. These attributes, combined with his demonstrated expertise in improving financial performance and tackling tough operational challenges, made him a stand-out among candidates across NLCS’ search to fill the position.
With over 20 years of experience in executive leadership and consulting in the not-for-profit and aging services arenas, Wagoner’s experience includes leading multiple Continuing Care Retirement Communities across Maryland, Virginia and West Virginia. His prior experience also includes serving as executive director for The Arc of Three Rivers, a non-profit organization that serves constituents across five locations in West Virginia. He also served as chief executive officer for Children’s Home Society of West Virginia, where he was responsible for 12 locations serving 6,500 children, youth and family members statewide.
While Craig will assume his new role immediately, he will continue to lead The Village at Rockville as interim executive director until his replacement is hired.
