A National Lutheran Program
In 2014, the Board of Trustees of National Lutheran Communities & Services (NLCS) authorized the establishment of a grant-making program to award funding to other non-profit organizations that provide services primarily to underserved seniors. Since that time, nearly $1 million in grants have been made to more than 50 organizations.
On January 1, 2018, Impact1890–A National Lutheran Program began its operations as a new program within the National Lutheran family with the sole function of continuing the work of awarding and managing grants made to community partners. Learn more about our Grant Making.
Impact1890 is named to signify the unique contribution this program will make to the organizations and people it affects and, to celebrate and honor the foresight of those who established the first National Lutheran community in 1890.
Continuing to find inspiration in the foundation and growth of NLCS, along with the guidance of the Board of Directors and leadership – Impact1890 will continue to support and collaborate with community partners who are serving seniors aging in place throughout Maryland, Delaware, Virginia and Washington, D.C.
